Search and Recovery Diver
While recreational divers are not trained to do commercial diving activities, there are some times when a diver wants to help recover small items for themselves and friends.
But, it is important to understand the basic methods of locating items underwater and the methods to bring them to the surface.
Also, to understand what the limits are to doing these activities. This specialty course helps divers understand what can and cannot be done within the limits of recreational diving.
Prerequisites: Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver, minimum age of eighteen (18) or age of ten (15) with parental consent.
Cost: $85.00.
Fee does not include entrance and/or boat fees.
What's involved: Academics and 2 dives.
Students are required to successfully complete the following:
1. Open Water : Dive one (l)
A. Compass review.
B. Search techniques.
C. Lifting techniques.
D. Have students’ practice and perform a few different search patterns.
E. Recover an object from depth.
2. Open Water : Dive two (2)
A. Simulated SCUBA emergency.
B. Minimum of two (2) searching techniques,
C. Salvage and recovery of an object with a water weight of between eleven (11) and thirty three (33) kg / twenty five (25) and seventy five (75) pounds.
