Solo Diver

Our solo diver course is one of our most popular SDI specialties. SDI is the only agency to teach the skills and equipment configuration necessary to safely pursue solo diving.

SDI has successfully promoted solo diving as an option for experienced sport divers engaged in certain activities. It is a program that is not suitable for every diver because divers must be willing to make the necessary commitment to train and equip themselves to manage the added risks independent diving involves.

The course stresses proper dive planning and accident prevention and teaches the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures and gear configuration for diving solo and the situations when it is or may be appropriate.

Prerequisites: Minimum age 21. Advanced Diver Certification, 100 logged dives.

Cost: $250

What's involved: Preparatory homework, an evening of classroom academics and then 2 dives.

-The two (2) dives are required with complete briefs and debriefs by the Instructor.
-Dive plan must include Surface interval, Max no-deco time, etc. to be figured out and logged.
-Surface swim of two hundred (200) meter with gear configuration appropriate to local diving performed in an open water environment.
