Wreck Diver

The Wreck Diver Specialty Course is designed to familiarise you with the skills, knowledge, planning, organisation, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and most importantly, the fun and adventure of wreck diving.  All performed on the ex-HMAS Adelaide located off Terrigal on the Central Coast, just north of Sydney.


Course Outline

You will have 4 dives during this course which teaches specific wreck diving skills in preparation for the final dive where you will conduct a full penetration of the wreck using a reel and lights.  

The Wreck Diver course covers:

  • Specialist equipment preparation

  • Wreck dive planning

  • Laws that govern historical and cultural significance of wrecks

  • Safety considerations for exploring wrecks

  • Use of penetration lines and reels

  • Finning techniques to avoid disturbing silt

Course Program

Introduction Evening (Tuesday after work for 2.0 hrs)

  • Complete course documentation

  • Provided with your Wreck Diver course manual

  • View the Wreck Diver video - completing Knowledge Reviews as you progress

  • Sizing of scuba dive equipment

Depart Canberra 6:00PM (Friday)

  • Overnight Dive lodge accommodation at Terrigal

Day 1 (Saturday)

  • Perform Wreck Dives 1 and 2 on exHMAS Adelaide

  • Overnight Dive lodge accommodation at Terrigal

Day 2 (Sunday)​

  • Perform Wreck Dives 3 and 4

  • Return to Canberra by approx 6:00PM

Standard Course


  • Class sizes are a minimum of 2 and maximum of 6 students

Private Course


  • 1 on 1 with the instructor, or bring a "buddy" (maximum of 2 students)

  • Transport to and from the coast


Combine this course with the Enriched Air (nitrox) Diver Specialty course and save $100 and get 4 Nitrox dives.

Include transport to/from Terrigal for the standard course. $30
